I have been pushing to get their votes back up. You can vote for your top ten list once a month. While it doesn't mean much it can help with some if limited DJ bookings.

Last Wednesday, I attended an Obama Nomination Party right here in Miami Gardens, and it was a wonderful experience. Aside from the fact that the spirits were high because he won the nomination, everyone was so nice, and I was really feeling the love. The crowd was nicely mixed, as far as age, gender, ethnic background and so on. But, another thing I noticed was the kind of music that the D.J. played. The D.J. played mostly house music. What I found rather interesting and comforting (to be honest) was the fact that most of the lyrics of each song in the set had political undertones to it. He started out the set with "Resist" by Roland Clarke. It was then that I realized that there is so much diversity in House music. It was then that I realized that House Music DOES have its share of 'activism", just as much as folk, Rock, Hip-Hop, Dub Poetry and other genres. Many people who do not understand House music claim that it is superficial. But, House music has a long history of activism and self-actualization built in to it. Heck, House music came about as sort of defiance and rejection of the mainstream. We need more House music at political rallies, particularly, Progressive ones because, frankly, that's it's Home (no pun intended) lol.

It’s almost that time of year again for the explosion of music, art, dance and love out in the beautiful Oregon countryside known as Emrg+N+See! Come be a part of the magic and fun. Volunteer!

We are currently filling slots for the Parking Lot, Security, Gate, Box Office, Trash Crew, Kitchen and Clean-up. Sign up by contacting Mischief, AKA Tiffany Stoneman, your volunteer coordinator at Call For Volunteers

HOW IT WORKS
You give us a total of 10 hours, 2 of which will be done on clean-up crew on the Monday after the festival. And of course, all of these 10 hours will be completed in your sunniest festival-happy welcoming manner. We are the “first impression” of Emrg+N+See….lets make it a spectacular one.

TICKETS AND REIMBURSEMENT
Once you sign up, we will send you the link to buy your volunteer ticket for $85.00. Complete all of your shifts and we will reimburse you $75.00. The extra $10.00 covers the camp fee for the use of the farm. If you need to cancel, you will need to get a refund through Brown Paper Tickets by July 11th.

ARRIVAL
Try to reach the festival site between 12pm-8pm on Thursday, July 17th. If that is impossible – you MUST arrive between 10am-12pm on Friday, July 18th

*Please note that volunteers are placed on a first come, first serve basis. We may not be able to accommodate requests to work certain duties and/or times. Signing up means you can handle a festival schedule (shifts run 24 hours a day), and will show up sober.

International DJ, innovative producer, founder and front man of one of the world's most legendary party organizations: FunkyTekno Tribe (FTT) and Organic. -DJ Hector Cardenas has emerged as a pioneering force in the house music scene and has continued to be instrumental in the proliferation of dance music on a global scale. Hector Cardenas' versitility as a DJ is second to none, applying his own unique and highly sophisticated stlye to all aspects of dance, ranging from future house and funky tekno to hip-house mash-ups and jazzy grooves. Starting out as a club DJ in 1989, Hector eventually joined forces with founding co-partners Kevon Banks and Jerry Sladewski in 1992 to form FTT just as the burgeoning underground rave scene was exploding along California's sunny shores. Together, Mikey and Gelly both launched the self-coined "HAWT Movement" in February of 2006 in Los Angeles, California. Best friends united by their relentless passion for music, they set out to change the way that people looked at house music, parties, and just having fun in general. "At first we just wanted to start a record label in order to showcase our own music, meanwhile having the opportunity to sign our favorite artists that we admire", says Mikey. "Along with that came the party, and that's what really put us on the map and opened up doors to gradually build relationships that will forever change our lives".

In May of 2006, HAWT Afterhours was born. On every 1st and 3rd Friday since the inception, HAWT's underground parties have not only showcased the DJ talent of various quality acts from all over the world, such as Inland Knights, Justin Long, Johnny Fiasco and many more, but they have also displayed the talent of so many of the great DJ's in the local scene. "We always looked back to the beginnning, before we ever had a gig and knew that this was an important step, something that people needed and appreciated", says Gelly. "Overall, the main focus has always been on bringing back that old school house vibe at parties, bringing friends together with music, and just breaking boundaries and having FUN", according to Mikey. HAWT also stands for "Having A Wonderful Time", and they have done just that with the help of Eddie Barajas, Mike Magana, and many more along the way.

Jack Monforte
In the beginning there was Jack...or so the story goes.
Jack "Freedom" Monforte has been spinning for over two decades now.
An underground fixture since the late eighties, he joined forces with two other promoters
in the early nineties to create Sweet Sundays.
Shortly thereafter he moved to Alaska, where he saw an opportunity to bring the underground techno scene to virgin territory, today Jack is considered one of the pioneers of the Alaskan electronic scene.
Moving back to Los Angeles in the mid nineties saw Jack earn a residency at
Club Diva where he opened up for Richard Vission and live acts like,
Rozalla, Donna Blakely, Alyus, Bad Boy Bill,etc...
In the early part of 2001 Jack along with partner K.C. Santana created Soulplanet Sessions.
a place where musicians,Djs and dancers could come together and create magic.
Soulplanet Sessions has hosted the likes of Marlon D,Master Kev, Tony Powell, Wayne Lyons and numerous other DJs.
Apart from being a producer/ DJ, his other passion is Graffiti art and photography.

Hector Cardenas
International DJ, innovative producer, founder and front man of one of the world's most legendary party organizations: FunkyTekno Tribe (FTT) and Organic. -DJ Hector Cardenas has emerged as a pioneering force in the house music scene and has continued to be instrumental in the proliferation of dance music on a global scale. Hector Cardenas' versitility as a DJ is second to none, applying his own unique and highly sophisticated stlye to all aspects of dance, ranging from future house and funky tekno to hip-house mash-ups and jazzy grooves. Starting out as a club DJ in 1989, Hector eventually joined forces with founding co-partners Kevon Banks and Jerry Sladewski in 1992 to form FTT just as the burgeoning underground rave scene was exploding along California's sunny shores. Firmly establishing himself as an FTT resident DJ, Hector has played at some of the worlds hottest clubs and has shared the stage with many of the world's premier electronic music artists such as DJ Sneak, Junior Sanchez, Mark Farina, DJ Dan, Daft Punk and The Basement Jaxx to name a few. After years of great success touring and producing parties with the FTT crew, Hector now spends a lot of his time traveling and playing the international club circuit as well as playing residency at clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Together, Mikey and Gelly both launched the self-coined "HAWT Movement" in February of 2006 in Los Angeles, California. Best friends united by their relentless passion for music, they set out to change the way that people looked at house music, parties, and just having fun in general. "At first we just wanted to start a record label in order to showcase our own music, meanwhile having the opportunity to sign our favorite artists that we admire", says Mikey. "Along with that came the party, and that's what really put us on the map and opened up doors to gradually build relationships that will forever change our lives".

In May of 2006, HAWT Afterhours was born. On every 1st and 3rd Friday since the inception, HAWT's underground parties have not only showcased the DJ talent of various quality acts from all over the world, such as Inland Knights, Justin Long, Johnny Fiasco and many more, but they have also displayed the talent of so many of the great DJ's in the local scene. "We always looked back to the beginnning, before we ever had a gig and knew that this was an important step, something that people needed and appreciated", says Gelly. "Overall, the main focus has always been on bringing back that old school house vibe at parties, bringing friends together with music, and just breaking boundaries and having FUN", according to Mikey. HAWT also stands for "Having A Wonderful Time", and they have done just that with the help of Eddie Barajas, Mike Magana, and many more along the way.

Keep an eye out for original music and remixes by EASILY INFLUENCED, which has been getting played by many world class acts such as Derrick Carter, Justin Long, Phil Weeks, DJ Mes, Natural Rhythm, Ricardo Rae, etc. "We think our versatility will surprise people. In the beginning there was Jack...or so the story goes.
Jack "Freedom" Monforte has been spinning for over two decades now.
An underground fixture since the late eighties, he joined forces with two other promoters
in the early nineties to create Sweet Sundays.
Shortly thereafter he moved to Alaska, where he saw an opportunity to bring the underground techno scene to virgin territory, today Jack is considered one of the pioneers of the Alaskan electronic scene.
Moving back to Los Angeles in the mid nineties saw Jack earn a residency at
Club Diva where he opened up for Richard Vission and live acts like,
Rozalla, Donna Blakely, Alyus, Bad Boy Bill,etc...
In the early part of 2001 Jack along with partner K.C. Santana created Soulplanet Sessions.
a place where musicians,Djs and dancers could come together and create magic.
Soulplanet Sessions has hosted the likes of Marlon D,Master Kev, Tony Powell, Wayne Lyons and numerous other DJs.
Apart from being a producer/ DJ, his other passion is Graffiti art and photography.
Jack's appearances have included...Dirty Dirty House Club, The Clinic, Faith after-hours, Inspiration, Therapy (FTWK), Movin, Union Square Lounge (NYC), The End Up (San Francisco) and countless one offs.

In terms of abilites, they don't call him The Vinyl Archaeologist for nothing! Ren is notorious for digging deep in the crates for uncanny surprises. Soulful, NY or UK style House at Burning Man?

Most of what I hear about BM is about "house", meaning everything but (breakbeat, techno, etc.)... is anybody going to be there spinning the *real* stuff??? More like Marques Wyatt style/Lars Behrenroth style, or like what you'd hear at Deep. Maybe even Louie Vega'ish stuff?

Please tell me where, what times if you have a hint!

a) what has been your favorite set heard this year? it doesn't have to be from this year, just something you've heard this year. me? i'm still in love w/ that daft punk coachella set from 06. it's everything i love about daft punk in one set. also, green velvet @ jack fridays in chicago. there's a spot around 1h21m where i just go there...it's like bionics or something...straight jackin...what does it for you all???

b) where do you download your music? i love deephousepage.com & trackwerk.net is decent. brokenbeatradio.com is reliable for good sets, but it doesn't compare to the deep & sexy vibes of grooveparlor.com. they have their sets on lockdown, but i can record them to minidisc anyway...where are some other good sources of house online???

San Francisco, CA – August 17, 2007 -- Residents of London’s famed THE END and Ibiza’s renown Superfreq parties are coming to San Francisco. Mighty and Non-Fat present to you “The Superfreq Express” featuring the former member of The Shamen and “Tech House” originator/catalyst, MR.C; his protégé and esteemed producer, Adultnapper (Francis Harris); and the next big thing in Electro House – Dollz At Play. Featuring a feast of cosmopolitan, techno-electro, acid, minimal house and techno beats from legends and prodigies– this is a show San Francisco will never forget.

For over 5 years now, the Superfreq nights have been one of the best underground parties around the world continually challenging eclectic electro, house and minimal techno sounds. They currently run every Sunday at The End, as well as select North American dates with Made Event in New York & Miami with a new quarterly residency at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles. After three fantastic seasons in Ibiza, the party successfully migrated from club Underground to the legendary DC 10 last year and the mayhem is now fully underway every Wednesday this summer. In 2005, Superfreq Records was established with partner Luke vB and currently the label is establishing a firm foothold in the world of cutting edge electronic dance music while still retaining a serious element of fun inherent in the Superfreq mantra. On the production front Mr. C has teamed up with Brooklyn’s emerging talent the nefarious Adultnapper, under the guise of the Sycophant Slags.

A true pioneer of dance music Mr. C scaled pop culture heights with the psychedelic-influenced techno-rave act The Shamen in the 1990s as pioneers of the rock/dance crossover and harbingers of today’s scene. His devotion to underground dance music and ascension as tech-house doyen and co-owner of London’s popular The End nightclub has kept Mr. C at the top of his game and a mainstay of the global techno scene. "I phoned round the main movers and groovers in the tech-house scene and said, 'Look, if we all start using this word to create a genre for ourselves, the press can jump on it. All of a sudden we're going to be seen as the leaders of this music.' And it worked.” His commitment to experimentation and credibility in setting the standards for sophistication in all sub-genres of dance music has earned him world-wide prestige as he endeavors to take the sounds of the underground to new and more accessible heights.

Relying primarily on the ancient art of mixing two records, Francis Harris’s precision skills and thoughtful programming have earned him a reputation as DJ equal to his regard as producer an uncommon distinction.
